Sustainable Forestry Tour Information and APPLICATION FORM

hrough the Sustainable Forestry Tour,
June 25-28, 2008
, participants immerse themselves in the social, economic and ecological aspects of sustainable forestry. During the 3-day program, they'll visit private, state and federal forests; tour a sawmill, plywood mill, paper mill, and seedling nursery; visit a fish hatchery; see a firefighting demonstration; and visit an ancient cedar grove. Throughout the tour, they learn directly from the natural resource professionals who care for our forests, and those who provide products we all use every day. Participants leave with abundant information and resources to explore sustainable forestry with their students.
Participants need to register anytime between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25. Tour begins at 3 pm on Wed., 6/25 and ends at 10 am on Sat. 6/28. An optional jet-boat ride on the Snake River, including lunch, will take place on Saturday, ending at 5 pm. The tour operates out of, and participants lodge at, the Red Lion Hotel in Lewiston, Idaho.
Tour costs are covered by a consortium of agency, individual and business sponsors. All tour expenses are paid, including transportation to/from the tour, meals, lodging, tour travel, and materials.
Two graduate credits (for recertification) are available from University of Idaho at the participants' own cost. (Idaho: $86/credit. Outside Idaho: $227/credit. Thirty Washington ESD 101 clock hours are available for a total of $60). Credit registration takes place during the tour.
